REGISTERS RECORD RETAIL SALES OF OVER 6.5 LAKH UNITS IN OCTOBER 2011



New Delhi, : Hero MotoCorp Ltd (HMC), the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, reached yet another significant milestone today by reporting it’s highest-ever retail sales in a month.
Hero MotoCorp recorded over 6.5 lakh unit retail sales of two-wheelers in the month of October 2011, thus registering a strong double digit growth over the corresponding month last year. It also surpassed the previous highest of over six lakh retail sales recorded in the month of October 2008.
Overall, Hero MotoCorp despatched 512,238 units of two-wheelers in the month of October 2011, compared to 505,553 units despatched in the corresponding month last year, thereby keeping up the momentum of consistent five lakh-plus unit sales every month.
Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp Ltd said, “We have been reaching new milestones this fiscal and the highest ever October retail sales is no exception. We are delighted with the response of the customers this festival season. The strong double digit growth in our retail sales in October clearly indicates that our new brand identity, campaign and recent launches have received great acceptance from our customers.”
This festive season Hero MotoCorp launched its first ever motorcycle under the new “Hero” brand name, providing an all-new riding experience for its customers. In the days leading up to Diwali, the company began despatches of the 150cc “Impulse” – the country’s only dual-purpose on-road-off-road bike, thereby launching an entirely new segment in the Indian two-wheeler market.
Attractively priced at Rs 66,800/- (ex-showroom Delhi), Impulse is available in five exciting colours - Black, Vibrant Blue Metallic, Sports Red, Leaf Green Metallic & Vibrant Orange.
Further strengthening its leadership position in the two-wheeler industry, Hero MotoCorp (formerly known as Hero Honda Motors Ltd) had closed the second quarter (July-September) of FY’12 with the sales of 15,44,315 units of two-wheelers, a growth of 20 per cent over the corresponding quarter in FY’11 when the company had sold 12,85,944 units.
With an average sales of five lakh-plus units in each month of Q2 (July-September) of 2011-12, Hero MotoCorp also registered it’s highest-ever turnover (Net Sales & Other Operating income) of Rs 5829.32 crores. The company’s turnover in the corresponding period last fiscal was Rs. 4551.95 crores.
